Title: Media Coordinator

 

We are looking for a Media Coordinator who will enhance our organization and build strong online communities through our social media and online platforms. The Media Coordinator is responsible for developing and administering social media content to engage users, maintaining our website, and writing newsletters and action alerts.

 

The Sound Defense Alliance (SDA) is a non-profit based on Whidbey Island working to protect communities and the natural environment from harmful Navy Growler jet activity around the Salish Sea, Puget Sound, and Olympic Peninsula. We are a small but driven team who values transparency, growth, and commitment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a monthly work plan with the SDA Program Manager

  • Develop a Media Plan to increase SDA membership

  • Coordinate website updates with the Program Manager

  • Maintain SDA Facebook, Instagram, and X accounts (and TikTok if interested)

  • Become familiar with Dropbox for file organization

  • Follow current media trends and create unique graphics to educate, inform, and engage audience

  • Respond to DMs and redirect to appropriate SDA staff, committee, or board member in a timely manner

  • Maintain contact with committee chairpersons to stay current with SDA goals and plans

  • Maintain contact with member organizations and affiliates

  • Collect and review social media, CRM, and website data for monthly reports to track progress and develop more effective campaigns

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • 1+ year of experience in professional social media management or ability to show multiple years of personal social media expertise

  • Exceptional communication, problem solving, time management, and multi-tasking skills

  • Experience with creating accessible graphic design

  • Ability to explain complex social media data in an understandable way

 

Additional information:

This is an independent contractor position. It is remote with a few in-person events a year. Compensation is $25 per hour for 10 hours a week with the potential for growth.
