Our elected officials can & should be part of the solution!

Contact our public servants and urge them to hold the Navy accountable for the harm Growler jet training causes to our communities, wildlife, and environmentally sensitive areas.

They have a responsibility to act in accordance with their constituents’ needs- we can remind them of that!

Call, email, or send a letter to relay your concerns about Navy Growler jet noise:

MAXIMIZE YOUR MESSAGE

Tips for Effectively Communicating with your Elected Officials

Phone Calls

Many advocates advise that phone calls are the most powerful way to reach your representatives.

We have provided numbers for DC offices; however, local offices may have more time to speak with you.

  1. State your name and zip code, mention that you are a WA state or district constituent.

  2. Identify the issue you are calling about. “I’m calling about the health impacts of Growler jets in Forks…”

  3. Clearly state what you want your representative to do. A one sentence message. Write down your message ahead of time and practice.

  4. Be polite and respectful.

  5. Make sure to leave a voicemail if you don’t reach a person! You can call every day.

Email

  1. Be brief. 1 – 2 paragraphs is best.

  2. Personalize your message. Use your own experiences in your own words.

  3. Clearly state what you want your representative to do. A one sentence message.

  4. Be polite and respectful.

  5. No attachments.

  6. Proof-read before you send.

Snail Mail

  1. Snail mail may take weeks to deliver because of mail screening in Congress but has a visual impact in contrast to phone calls and emails.

  2. Consider sending a postcard or card with an image of a local place you want to protect from Growler impacts.

  3. Be brief and write clearly.

  4. Personalize your message. Use your own experiences in your own words.

  5. Be polite and respectful.

  6. Proof read before you send.
