What is Growler noise like?

Exposure to noise over 70 decibels (dB) for a prolonged period of time is harmful to your ears and can cause permanent hearing damage. Sounds at or above 85 dB can damage hearing over time. A single loud noise at or above 120 dB can cause immediate hearing loss. Growler jets have been recorded over residential areas at over 110 dB. Our region is being exposed to excessive noise levels and we are facing the consequences.

EA-18G jets have the same frame as FA-18 Blue Angels. Imagine the noise from a military air show over your home, all day, every day. People have compared Growler noise levels loud rock concerts, metal being shredded in the sky, or endless thunder. Due to the low frequency of the noise, insulation and hearing protection cannot provide full protection.

TRIGGER WARNING!

This page is a collection of Navy EA-18G Growler jet audio recordings and videos.

Please be warned that the noise may be triggering and disturbing to those with PTSD or who are sensitive to loud noises.

Growler recordings from Washington’s Olympic peninsula. Crackling noise occurs when the noise exceeds the microphone and recording unit capacity (approximately 82 dBA). Read Lauren Kuehne’s research and publications on orcas and Growlers.

How can something this loud be allowed?
