Appeals dropped in Growler noise lawsuit

sounddefenseallian

"The Navy and a Whidbey anti-noise group will not battle it out in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals"

Navy and COER dropped their decisions to appeal Judge Jones' NEPA findings, leaving intact the judge's orders to correct deficiences in the Navy's EIS. Our biggest concern is the Navy’s past reluctance to seriously consider El Centro and other potential Growler training locations that could reduce the number of operations on Whidbey Island. That is critical because the UW health study, based upon the Navy’s noise data and other researcher data, shows significant health risks for over 72,000 people in the region. COER and SDA will be looking carefully at their draft revision and will keep you informed of your opportunities to comment.
